We provide barcode-labeled tubes as part of the SimpleSeq DNA sequencing service. This allows us to receive sample in the tubes that fit perfectly into our process. It allows you to avoid costly and time-consuming procurement of tubes.
Easy & secure sample loading—no capping
SimpleSeq tubes have split seal caps. You can add your sample directly through the seal. It closes up as you remove the pipette tip, minimizing the chance of introducing contaminants into your sample.
No template tube labeling
SimpleSeq tubes are already barcode-labeled—both 1D & 2D—when they arrive in your lab. You only need to place your sample inside and they’re ready to go.

A SimpleSeq DNA sequencing service includes 96 SimpleSeq tubes and 96 DNA sequencing reactions. An order for one or more SimpleSeq service packages can be done with a single PO and a single invoice. You save valuable time by processing one order for many reactions.
Use SimpleSeq reactions one at a time
SimpleSeq reactions can be used online one at a time or in batches. Simply enter the barcodes from SimpleSeq tubes into the sample barcode fields on the DNA sequencing order entry page. You can also use one tube and sample for multiple reactions. These barcodes will be automatically recognized and validated by our system as SimpleSeq barcodes and you will not be invoiced for the reactions. And your reactions never expire.
Eliminate Order Entry Errors
Scanning the 1D barcode from a SimpleSeq tube into the order entry field is the best way to eliminate sample ID errors. But, even if you enter a barcode manually, our system checks to ensure that the barcode is activated on your account and available to use—virtually eliminating the possibility of sample ID typos. We don’t stop there. Every step of the order entry process either uses drop down menus or is checked for possible errors to ensure that your order can be processed quickly and accurately.

Simple Sample Processing
Safe & Secure Sample Handling
Because SimpleSeq tubes are used directly in our process, we do not need to transfer your sample from one tube to another. This avoids even the slightest possibility that something can happen to your sample between the time that you put it into the tube and the time that the reaction is processed.
Barcode tracking of all samples
Unique barcodes—both 1D and 2D—on each tube are used to track your samples throughout the system and ensure accurate sample-to-results correlation. These barcodes can also be used to reference stored results and samples.
Automated Workflow
We managed our internal workflow by using Geospiza GeneSifter™ Lab Edition software. This software integrates with our online order entry system to enable error-free transfer all sample information to our laboratory. The software then processes reactions through our liquid handling and thermocycling systems. Finally the GeneSifter software manages the capillary electrophoresis runs of samples on our ABI 3730xl DNA Analyzers and transfers results information to our online retrieval system. Nothing is left to chance. Results are delivered within 24 hours of sample receipt.
Powerful Chemistry
For DNA sequencing using Applied Biosystems™ 3730xl DNA Analyzers, we use the chemistry that was designed for the system—BigDye® Terminator v3.1 chemistry. Use of BigDye chemistry on a 3730xl DNA Analyzer ensures that you get the longest and most accurate read from your sample.
Simple Results Retrieval
Eliminate sample mix-ups
Unique barcodes on each tube can be used to track your sample throughout the system and ensure sample-to-results correlation. The barcode is your guarantee that the sample you sent belongs to the results you see.
Secure results download
When your results are ready, you will receive an email with a link to your DNA sequencing results. Results can only be downloaded by the account that placed the order. This secures your results from accidental or intentional download by other persons.
Results storage
Not only can you quickly and conveniently download your sample results from our secure website, we also store these result in your Order History. To access results from any SimpleSeq reaction, click on the Order History option in the My Orders menu. Click the Show Details button on the order you wish to view, and follow the instructions to download the results for that order. Results are stored for at least 6 months.

Paperless sample submission
When using SimpleSeq tubes for sample submission and bar-coded labels for enclosed primers, there is no need to print out order confirmation sheets to send with your samples. We can find your order in our system by simply scanning the barcodes. You save time, money, and help the environment.
Recycled and recyclable packaging materials
Where possible, Eurofins MWG Operon used recycled or recyclable materials in our packaging and products. Look for the green recycling symbol on product packaging for details.
Rack Recycling Program
The rack that is provided with SimpleSeq tubes is made from polypropylene. When the rack is empty you can reuse the rack in your lab, send it to a local recycling center that accepts polypropylene, or, if you do not have a suitable recycling center in your area, return the racks to us and we will make sure they are recycled.

How to Order
To order SimpleSeq reactions:
- Log into our website at www.operon.com
- Select Order – DNA Sequencing from the Order Now menu
- Click on Order SimpleSeq Kits in the Barcode Management Center
- Click on the Order button to order A SimpleSeq Kit for 96 DNA sequencing reactions
- Complete the checkout process and submit the order
We will ship your rack of 96 double bar-coded (1D & 2D) SimpleSeq tubes to you by FedEx Priority Overnight service at no additional charge.
To activate the SimpleSeq tubes:
- Select Order – DNA Sequencing from the Order Now menu
- Click on Activate SimpleSeq Reactions in the Barcode Management Center
- Enter either the rack code or a code from the label on any tube in the rack
- Click Activate
To use SimpleSeq reactions:
- Enter an order just like any DNA sequencing reaction
- Use the 1D barcode from SimpleSeq tubes when entering the order
- The system automatically detects that the barcode belongs to a SimpleSeq tube and enters a no charge order for the reaction into our system
- Upload orders work the same way; samples with SimpleSeq barcodes are processed at no additional charge
You can order more than one reaction per tube by simply entering the barcode and sample name in more than one row in the upload spreadsheet or the order entry screen.
