Instrumentation & calibration Tech.

• Performs maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for our laboratory and manufacturing equipment
• Works on assignments that are complex in nature in which considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
• Maintains and repairs laboratory equipment to ensure safe reliable operation and keep downtime to a minimum. Coordinate, and oversee third party contractors.
• Utilize, and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, repairs, PM s, and inventory control. Coordinates and performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Involved in facility maintenance and communicates with third parties/contractors in order to keep facility environment safe and productive
• Improves procedures by modifying, updating or even creating SOP’s/WI’s to troubleshoot and/or maintain lab equipment
• Works in close contact with R&D department and is also involved in development and/or optimization of equipment
• Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may oversee the activities of other individual contributor personnel.
• Specifies and requests purchase of components
• Maintains all logs and required documentation
• Maintains spare parts inventory
• Maintains order and inventory of shop tools and equipment
• Maintains accurate maintenance records according to regulations

• Requires an AA degree or equivalent in electronics and/or general laboratory mechanics with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience
• Experience in maintenance and repair of Laboratory Analytical and sythesizing equipment such as liquid handlers, HPLC s, Mass Specs and other commercial and in house designed Robots
• Proven ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to perform under pressure of a fast paced production environment
• PC based computer literacy
• Ability to work well with a team with little supervision
• Acts to comply with established quality system standards
• Handles hazardous chemicals following, without exception, the company’s safety requirements
• Must be highly motivated, organized, efficient and flexible
• Works and communicates effectively with team members to attain best work flow and machine performance
• Is dependable and on time for handover between different shift times

Technical Support Representative

Eurofins MWG Operon is a global supplier of synthetic DNA and DNA sequencing services. We are currently seeking a Technical Support Representative for our Huntsville, AL location.

The Technical Support Representative will be responsible for product support and assay-specific troubleshooting inquiries. Other daily tasks include order processing, general and technical customer inquiries via phone and email, order coordination with production, and all other tasks relating to care of Eurofins MWG Operon customers. The ideal candidate will be the initial point of contact for customers and provide support for customer inquiries via email and phone. (He/she) will also be responsible for manual order entry from excel and text documents. Manual order entry requires a high level of detail orientation. (He/she) will report to the Customer Service and Technical Support Manager. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with customers and be solution-oriented. He/she will also possess ability to learn technical information quickly have a strong drive for continual education in a fast-paced, ever-changing field. Professional telephone and email abilities are required.

• Product selection guidance or availability
• Troubleshooting assay-specific issues such as PCR, qPCR, etc.
• Logistical issues related to order status
• Placing and tracking orders through the web site
• Customer Account setup and maintenance

• BS Degree in a Life Science field (Biology, Molecular Biology, etc)
• 1-5 years experience in Life Science research
• Customer Service experience a plus
• Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Suite - particularly Excel
• Excellent time-management, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to present complicated scientific data in a logical manner
• Detail-oriented with ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
• Team-player with a positive attitude
