Level I to III depending on degree, background and experience
Main Tasks / Primary Responsibilities- Performs maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for our laboratory and manufacturing equipment
- Works on assignments that are complex in nature in which considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
- Maintains and repairs laboratory equipment to ensure safe reliable operation and keep downtime to a minimum. Coordinate, and oversee third party contractors.
- Utilize, and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, repairs, PM s, and inventory control. Coordinates and performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Involved in facility maintenance and communicates with third parties/contractors in order to keep facility environment safe and productive
- Improves procedures by modifying, updating or even creating SOP’s/WI’s to troubleshoot and/or maintain lab equipment
- Works in close contact with R&D department and is also involved in development and/or optimization of equipment
- Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may oversee the activities of other individual contributor personnel.
- Specifies and requests purchase of components
- Maintains all logs and required documentation
- Maintains spare parts inventory
- Maintains order and inventory of shop tools and equipment
- Maintains accurate maintenance records according to regulations
Required Qualifications:- Requires an AA degree or equivalent in electronics and/or general laboratory mechanics with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience
- Experience in maintenance and repair of Laboratory Analytical and sythesizing equipment such as liquid handlers, HPLC s, Mass Specs and other commercial and in house designed Robots
- Proven ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform under pressure of a fast paced production environment
- PC based computer literacy
- Ability to work well with a team with little supervision
- Acts to comply with established quality system standards
- Handles hazardous chemicals following, without exception, the company’s safety requirements
- Must be highly motivated, organized, efficient and flexible
- Works and communicates effectively with team members to attain best work flow and machine performance
- Is dependable and on time for handover between different shift times

2nd Shift Manager for Oligonucleotide Manufacturing
Department:
Production
The Shift Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all production activities on assigned shift or manufacturing department including personnel, production flow and processes and interaction with other departments within the company. Responsibilities Include:- Works to create and maintain high performance teams, including interviewing, hiring, training, goal setting, performance evaluations and career development.
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills by effectively communicating, building of positive moral and team spirit and resolving conflict constructively with team members.
- Effectively oversees and manages production flow across departments by setting priorities, identifying and reducing backlogs and bottle necks and correcting for deviation from established procedures.
- Works closely with Shift Team Leaders, other Shift Managers, Maintenance Personnel and Customer support to ensure smooth product hands-off's and timely and effective communication flow.
- Maintain a high degree of personal initiative, interact positively with all staff and management and exhibit independent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Monitor and maintain staff results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
- Effectively manages personnel resources to ensure timely turnaround of product while effectively managing material resources.
- Keeps a solid understanding of all laboratory procedures and operations in order to provide informed answers to employees and other departments.
- Identifies projects geared towards improving quality, reducing manufacturing costs and improving product turnaround
- Assists Team Leads with establishing and/or reviewing work instructions and resulting training of employees.
- Manages time clock system for hourly employees
- Successfully completes any required training and ensures Quality Standards are maintained within manufacturing.
- Strictly adheres to company health, safety and regulatory policies
Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years experience, preferably in a ISO-9001:2000 or cGMP biotechnology manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide group leadership.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to set priorities, manage multiple priority tasks and make technical decisions within time constraints.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to rationally handle crisis and show good judgment under pressure
- Familiar with standard laboratory procedures
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Windows Explorer
- Ability to work with Hazardous Chemicals and to lift 35+ pounds
Position References:- BS degree in Biology or Chemistry.
- Previous experience with DNA/RNA synthesis and analysis/purification by Mass Spec. Capillary Electrophoresis, PAGE or HPLC is preferred.
- Previous leadership/management experience
- Previous training experience and SOP documentation

Junior Web Developer .NET
Department:
Information Technology
We are looking for a Junior Web Developer to support our local IT team in Huntsville. You will maintain and troubleshoot our website and sequencing services. This is a temporary part-time entry level position for 6 months with option for longer terms. Your responsibilities will include:- Support IT team with daily application maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
- Assist with the maintenance of Operon's ASP.NET website and business-to-business (B2B) portals. The sites are written in VB.NET and use a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database.
- Provide support for production applications implemented in C#.NET.
Requirements- 1+ years of .NET development using Microsoft Visual Studio (C# or VB.NET)
- Experience with ASP.NET development a plus
- Knowledge of web design, HTML and CSS a plus
- Experience in relational database design and implementation a plus
- The successful candidate will have a pro-active, self-motivated, get-it-done attitude; a desire to learn in new areas; and the discipline to pay attention to deadlines, details and quality.
- Proven hands-on technical skills with a can-do attitude and ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- The ability to think analytically and troubleshoot complex problems is essential.
Additional Qualifications- BSc in Computer Science or a related field is recommended but not required.
